Subaru Factory Scheduled & Preventative Maintenance

Scheduled Maintenance: Is it a scam or do I really need to do it????????

Cars used to need a tune up every 10-12,000 miles, engine overhauls 20-30,000 miles. These repairs cost car owners considerably more money per mile than cars today. Subaru has specified maintenance schedules to get the owner the optimum performance and life from their Subaru.

These maintenance schedules are based on miles driven and based on normal driving habits. So Subaru has determined and set up mileage intervals for your Subaru in order for you to get the longest trouble free service from your car. At Suburb Service we use genuine Subaru parts that were engineered and designed to perform the very best for your Subaru. Yes we can buy cheaper parts (we would make more  money) but it is not in your Subaru’s best interest. Cheap aftermarket parts are just that: cheaper and of less quality. Genuine Subaru parts fit and work better and require less down road adjustment. We use the very best for your Subaru. Keep in mind regular commuting is considered severe driving conditions and require more frequent service intervals.

It is important to follow the manufactures guidelines for service. They have spent zillions of dollars designing and engineering your Subaru and who better prepare the maintenance schedules. We follow their schedules to better serve you and your Subaru. These schedules start with a basic oil and filter change (always a genuine Subaru oil filter and Kendall  quality motor oil)  all the way up to all fluids, filters , safety inspection including lights, wipers, exhaust, oil and coolant leaks, belts, brakes, glass and seat belts, and the 105 k service including the timing belt.  Anytime we have your Subaru in any of our service facilities you will receive a full written inspection sheet. Our ASE master certified technicians take the time to thoroughly go over your Subaru. From bumper to bumper top to bottom they check your Subaru. With each Subaru inspected we give you a written inspection sheet.  This sheet is divided into 3 colors of concern: green is good to go, yellow is time to plan for future repairs, and the dreaded red means to stop and repair ASAP! You family's safety is always important to us, we keep on file all records of service and future repair needs. We will notify you in advance for upcoming needed repairs. You can call us at anytime to find what has been done to your Subaru and what needs yet to be done.

Your Recommended Subaru Maintenance Schedule - Suburb Service can help

  • 7,500 miles
Minor service to change and top off fluids, rotate your tires, and make sure your new car is in top form.
  • 15,000 miles
Your first intermediate service makes sure your car has clean filters and fluids to keep rolling along.
  • 30,000 miles
30,000 isn't a lot of miles for a Subaru, but this major service changes fluids, filters, and spark plugs (depending on year and model) so your car keeps going for many years to come.
  • 45,000 miles
Another "intermediate" service keeps your Subaru moving right along.
  • 60,000 miles
Now your car is racking up some miles. We'll do a major service like at 30,000 miles, but we might also need to replace your timing belt.
  • 90,000 miles
If you've taken good care of your car, another 30,000 mile service is all you'll need.
  • 105,000 miles
Can you believe it? You've got 7 digits on your car! Time for another major service. If you have a 2.5L engine, you'll need a new timing belt. We also recommend new hoses.
