Road Trip Survival Tips

With half of summer still to come, and Autumn offering beautiful outdoor experiences, you have plenty of time to fit in a road-trip or two before the end of the year.

It's the best time of the year to take a ride around the Pacific Northwest, driving through Canyon Park, Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, and the rest of gorgeous Washington.

But before you do, we put together some:

Road-trip survival tips for you, your family, and your Subaru!

You, the driver

Assuming you're the driver, you are important! If you're on a long trip, driving can get tiresome. Make sure you get plenty of rest ahead of time, and take breaks when needed. Stretch your legs, switch drivers if that's an option, and stay fed and hydrated.

Dress comfortably since you will be in the same position for awhile, and maybe even bring a pillow to put behind your back while you drive. Don't forget to create your favorite playlist!

Great music makes a huge difference in how you enjoy your time! Also, double check the apps on your phone to ensure you are set up with navigation and gas station locators.

Lastly, bring a paper map with you, just in case. Yes, we are in the age of technology, but if something were to happen and are on one of those long Washington roads, you'll be happy to have an alternative way to navigate if needed.

Family

Bringing the kids? With today's advances, kids have a lot more backseat options for a roadtrip. Tablets, portable DVD players, iphones, handheld gaming devices...endless options for each.

While these certainly come in handy and have their place, consider having some "gadget free" time and take a break from being plugged in. Engage in road-trip games with you kids like madlib, 20 questions, and brain teasers.

Look for different license plates and sites. Make pit stops to check out cool things you see as you drive. Make sure to make those bathroom stops, but for safety always go with your kids and remind them not to talk to strangers.

Lastly, don't forget these tips: bring a lot of snacks, pillows so they can fall asleep, and don't forget your gadget chargers!

Subaru

The last thing you want to do is worry about your vehicle! Make sure everything is all up to date with a recent tune up before you leave. Get your tires checked, including your spare.

Bring contact information for roadside assistance, just in case. And, whenever you leave your vehicle, remember to place your valuables in the trunk.

Taking your Subaru to a Subaru only shop has a huge advantage for the correct care. We want you to enjoy every moment of your trip without spending any time worried or stressed about your transportation.
