Top Tips For Fall Apple Picking Near Seattle
Did you know that Washington produces about 60 percent of the nation's supply of apples? It's true-and apple orchards in Washington state love guests. So, what should you look for when taking your family to the orchard this fall? Here are our top tips to make your apple picking trip a success.
- Call ahead before visiting to make sure the orchard you want to visit has self-picking options open the day of your visit.
- Let the kiddos have the low-hanging fruit (or bring along a small step ladder so they can reach the apples!).
- Peak apple picking season lasts September through the end of October, so plan accordingly.
- Bring along your own bags or boxes in case the orchard has run out of them.
- Wear rubber boots (as the orchards tend to be a bit muddy!).
- Check with the orchard before bringing Fido along-many orchards have a no-pet policy to help you and your pup stay safe.
- Plan how many apples you'll want before you arrive-you don't want to over pick!
